The recently passed “cash for clunkers” bill is analogous with what is wrong with American today.  Under this bill, it is possible to get a $4,500 subsidy to purchase a new car.  This is an insidious plan to create faux-demand for the newly created Government Motors of Obama.

The economy sucks, we all know that.  The reason being the government doesn’t know its proper role and continues expanding through deficit spending.  Since my income largely results from revenue generated by the spending of disposable income, I have had to adjust my spending habits to reflect less money coming in.  The government, on the other hand, faces a crisis due to debt, yet continues to pile on that debt, ultimately putting the burden on taxpayers.  If I ran my household in a similar fashion, I would have found myself bankrupt and homeless by now.

I am fed-up with government programs that force me to subsidy other people’s car purchases, home purchases, mortgage bailouts, banks bailouts and the purchase of a failed automobile industry.  Apparently, it is not enough for Mr. Redistribution of Wealth Obama that I have to tighten my own belt to make ends meet, I also have to pay for the purchases of others.

The end result of all this is the destruction of the ability of Americans to take care of themselves.  The people who try are smacked down by the costs imposed by government.  The people receiving the “assistance” are learning the lesson that it does not pay to take care of one’s self because the government will step in and make you a dependent.

We now have a “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” situation that ultimately screws everyone.  Unfortunately, I won’t get the last laugh until the economy completely collapses – by then it will be too late!
