Unfortunately, Spitzer’s visions come with a large price tag. His latest folly is to legislate what food is available in schools. It is not the job of the government to act as a mother hen to society. The last I checked, personal responsibility was still a virtue. Unfortunately, that virtue is being constantly diminished by over-reaching government programs. People reflexively look toward the government to solve their problems. Individual liberties that were written into the constitution are eroded with each new government program.
Governor Spitzer has demonstrated that increasing government spending and programs is not a problem for him. What we need is a Governor who will cut spending. Reduced spending and taxes would allow people to have the resources to allocate in a manner that they feel is best for improvements in their lives.
