City of Buffalo taxpayers and private sector workers making, on average, much less money than City employees do not matter to Byron Brown.  Brown, acting like a typical machine made politician, pledges to restore several missed pay increases that resulted from the wage freeze.

Mayor Byron Brown making an announcement late this afternoon, saying he will try and restore all missed step increases for city workers.

I would like to see the Mayor put this egregious plan to a referendum, making available all wage and benefit data for each position.  Let the voters see exactly who is receiving their high taxes and compare those wages with private sector employment.

The whole point of the wage freeze was to bring spending under control.  Restoring outrageous pay increases, combined with out of control benefits is a slap in the face of local taxpayers.

Groceries are going up all of the time. You have to cut back and make ends meet,” said Buffalo Fire Lieutenant Keith LoCicero.

It was pointed out to City Hall by the BFSA that Denver firefighters took a $4200 annual wage reduction to help bring municipal spending under control.  Perhaps the Buffalo Firefighters should be offered classes in budgeting.

Both men have used the truth to spark reform of a corrupt system.  Martin Luther went after the Catholic Church and Ron Paul is taking on our bloated, out of control government.  Martin Luther used the Gutenberg Press.  Ron Paul is using the internet.  Read the rest and you decide.

There is no doubt in my mind that the taste of food grilled over charcoal kicks ass compared to a gas grill. While shopping in Home Depot 2 nights ago, I ran across a special on a charcoal cart grill for only $25.00 - I couldn’t resist at that price.

I assembled the grill yesterday afternoon and broke it in last night. I didn’t want to make anything that was too ordinary and found the perfect recipe utilizing ingredients I had on hand.

The star of the meal was Emeril’s Kicked Up Blue Cheese-stuffed Hamburgers topped with homemade Green Peppercorn Mayonnaise. I added some sliced vidalia onions to top off the burgers. The burgers were absolutely delicious and the mayonnaise was a cinch to make in the food processor. I rounded out the meal with a nice salad of spring greens, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, and crumbled blue cheese with some good Italian dressing. Bush’s vegetarian beans completed the meal nicely.

The wage freeze is over, yet many City employees are grumbling.  They are upset because they are not receiving “back” raises that were negated during the freeze.  That position is very self-centered and fails to take into account their responsibility for the implementation of the wage freeze.

Buffalo is a shrinking city with an abnormally large percentage of workers employed by government.  The salaries of the government employees are far above the average for the area.  The benefit packages are tantamount to legalized thievery of the taxpayers.

It is simply not fair that government workers keep demanding more and more while the rest of the economy in this area is tanking.  All of the complaining about only getting a 1 step pay increase, instead of a 4 step increase, tells me that they do not care about anyone but themselves and that the wage freeze was lifted too soon!
