This is un-American. I was at the pregame party last Friday before the Islanders game. I saw no evidence that beer was causing any problems. In fact, the beer behaved itself quite well, staying in cups after being dispensed from the taps.
The Buffalo Sabres’ popular game night “Party in the Plaza” will see some key changes, starting this evening.
The outdoor party is going “alcohol- free” through the rest of the playoff run. And as of tonight, when Round Two begins with a homeopening game against the New York Rangers, Perry Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Washington and Illinois streets.
This sort of action is like being in elementary school all over again. It reminds me of a teacher punishing the whole class for the acts of one student.
The silver lining is that this could be a boon to local bars.

I’m sure we can all sleep better at night knowing that money is taken forcefully from us by the government to subsidize housing for the rich.
The Townhouses at Waterfront Place, a 15-unit, upscale housing development, is slated to welcome its first residents this fall.
The units are expected to sell for between $529,000 and $659,000, but the new owners will be getting tax breaks of about $12,000 annually on their property tax bills in the first few years because the townhouses are located in a state Empire Development Zone.
That is a combined total of $180,000 annually in property tax abatements. Does that count as earned income for tax purposes?

The weapons will be accepted “no questions asked,” Brown said, and can redeemed for bankcredit cards ranging in value from $10 to $100, depending on the type of gun.
The only guns that will be removed by this ridiculous program are excess weapons that criminals don’t need and legal weapons lying around that are no longer wanted. Criminals are not going to get rid of guns that have a potential to generate more than $100 in illegal revenue.
This is just more political pandering to public perception, it looks good but doesn’t accomplish squat.
