Ron Paul Interview

In case you missed it yesterday, Jim Ostrowski, president of Free New York Inc., interviewed Congressman Ron Paul on wnymedia.net. Congressman Paul is a Republican candidate for the 2008 Presidential primary. This was Jim Ostrowski’s first radio show, which will be a weekly feature. You can listen to the interview here.

Bass Pro Deal

The deal announced with Bass Pro is essentially what I said it would be back on February 27, 2007.

The revised plans call for a 110,000 square foot store in the Inner Harbor area, about the size of a typical Wegmans. The deal includes a financial arrangement with the City that has Bass Pro initially making $300,000 per year payments to the City.

I still question the wisdom of using prime historical land as a center for a mega-retail complex. And, I do not like using $35 million to support private retail. This is inherently unfair to other retailers and a huge expense for taxpayers. Development is not sustainable when it has to depend upon government (taxpayers’) support.
