but this is ridiculous.
Two men who are members of Gideons International, the Christian organization that is famous for, among other ministries, placing Bibles in motels and giving them to children, have been arrested after trying to hand out Bibles on a public sidewalk in Florida, according to a law firm.
Officials with the Alliance Defense Fund have confirmed they will be representing Anthony Mirto and Ernest Simpson, who were arrested, booked into jail and charged with trespassing.
The arrest happened Jan. 19, when Mirto and Simpson were on the sidewalk outside of Key Largo School in Key Largo, Fla., and were distributing copies of the Bible to those interested.
“Neither man entered school grounds,” the law firm said. “After the school’s principal called police, a Monroe County sheriff’s officer asked the men to leave immediately or face trespassing charges. As the men prepared to leave, the officer decided to arrest both individuals.”

At first glance, this article appears funny. Outrage is the emotion you will have by the time you read the whole thing and watch the subsequent video.
Have you ever waited for your change at some fast food joint? Of course you have. Even if you’ve not recently indulged at a fast “food” bloat buffet, you’ve had to wait for change in other shops. You know how it goes: you stand there holding back an aneurysm while the cashier struggles to figure out how to break your twenty-dollar bill. What a toughie.
Experienced clerks know that The Machine automatically tells them the amount of change. Then the clerk has the arduous task of trying to make $8.37, or some such amount, out of the money in the cash drawer. This is where all too many young, eager “smiling” faces crash and burn. Simply counting up from the total price of your purchase to the sum of the $20 with which you paid, could be, like, you know, basically, really harsh on my mellow of one of those kids. Is it any wonder that often the clerks are surly?
Even with the answer provided by the cash register (EMB – electronic money-counting brain), the clerks counting out your change appear to be swimming in a sea of mathematical mayhem. God help them if you get cute and think.
For example, you make a $16 purchase. You hand the clerk $21. Totally shaken by the iDon’tGetIt of this, the clerk strives to make sense of the transaction. You are handed back your extra one-dollar bill and then the EMB instructs the clerk to give you four dollars. What you wanted was a five spot. But, this is pushing the outer limits of the clerk’s stunted cranial capacity.

Bring on the union goons! Congress just might legitimize their heavy-handed activities. Workers will no longer be able to vote against union organizing without the fear of retaliation.
Miller, the chairman of the House Committee on Education and Labor, has introduced a bill, the inaptly named “Employee Free Choice Act,” which would allow unions to circumvent secret ballot voting by employees on whether they want to unionize. Employees instead would be expected to sign (or refuse to sign) union cards in public. This “card check” procedure leaves workers open to well-documented high-pressure tactics and intimidation by union organizers.
Rep. George Miller (D-CA) deserves a well publicized public flogging for this latest assault of freedom.

“I think we’ve got to start thinking about a war-on-terrorism tax,” Lieberman said during an Armed Services Committee hearing on Bush’s defense spending proposals. “I mean, people keep saying that we’re not asking sacrifices of anybody but our military in this war, and some civilians who are working on it.”
Lieberman, an independent who usually votes Democratic, asserted that a war-on-terror tax would make it clearer to taxpayers how their money would be used.
First, I would like to say that the idea was proposed by Senator Joe Lieberman, not Smokin’ Joe
Perhaps Lieberman is on to something. I could be in favor of fine tuning his proposal. We would have to make the entire budget for the War on Terror reliant on the new tax. The tax would require a public referendum for approval. If the public votes it down, the war would have to end. Also, the tax would only be good for one year and have to be voted upon by the public annually or it expires.
