The Maine Senate voted 137 to 4 in favor of a resolution opposing the federal Real Id Act. Please click this link to let your Congressional officials know that you are opposed to this act.
The problem with the law is that it is very vague. The details regarding what personal information is to be collected and stored, and how it will be used, will be left up to unelected bureaucrats.
While you are at it, urge Congress to stop passing laws that allow bureaucrats to fill in the details.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer has a bold plan for New York families:
- Reduce property taxes that fund education by 50%
- Increase the number of college graduates by 50%
- Reduce illegal immigration by at least 50% and increase legal immigration by up to 50%
- Reduce our dependence on foreign oil by 50%
- Cut children’s access to Internet pornography by at least 50%
- Increase our ability to fight terrorism by 50%
These are among his “50-percent Solutions,” the innovative, attainable proposals spelled out in his new book, Positively American: Winning Back the Middle Class One Family at a Time (VHPS/Rodale), hot off the presses this week.
Schumer will detail his agenda and sign his new book on Saturday, January 27 at Borders Books and Music, 2015 Walden Avenue, Cheektowaga. Info: 716-685-2844. The event will run from 10-11 AM, after which the Senator will also be available to speak to members of the press.
Anyone can see that the cost in terms of money and liberty required to support that agenda would be astronomical. If he really wants to accomplish those goals without exorbitant costs, this is what he needs to do:
- Get the government out of the education business and make school choice available to all
- End social services to illegal immigrants
- Get the government out of the energy business
- End all military acts of aggression and intervention and open trade with all countries
- Whether or not a child can access Internet pornography is a parental concern best addressed by parents, not the government
My plan would save much more in terms of money than Schumer’s shell game. It would not cost anyone an iota of individual liberty. In fact, it would lead to an economic upturn that would benefit society as a whole.
It is bad enough that the government is robbing us blind with Schumer’s blessing, now he will profit from a book about legalized robbery and coercion.
Schumer’s 50% solution is the proverbial glass that is half empty.

The U.S. Military seems to be taking a page out of Star Trek. The giant gun pictured on top of the Humvee is a heat ray gun. It is capable of blasting people 550 yards away.
Called the Active Denial System, it projects an invisible high energy beam that produces a sudden burning feeling.
Military officials, who say the gun is harmless, believe it could be used as a non-lethal way of making enemies surrender their weapons.
It is like a giant version of a Star Trek phaser, except it is permanently set to stun.

Cindy Locklear makes a very good point about why George Holt is out of his job as a result of his plea deal. His attorney(s) screwed up.
However, it was up to Mr. Holt’s attorneys to ascertain the ancillary effects of his criminal conviction and to determine if there were in fact consequences under other statutory mandates and to counsel their client accordingly. This was not the DA’s role nor responsibility.
