Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter Mary, a lesbian, is pregnant. Wolf Blitzer attempts to question Cheney but Cheney refuses to talk about it.
I don’t think the questioning by Blitzer was out of line. Cheny, as Vice President, is a public figure who has a very influential affect on public policies and regulations. If his daughter were a convicted murderer, it would be fair to question him about the justice system. It is also fair to question him about lesbian/gay couples having and/or raising children. The government has a direct affect on the lives of gay families and Cheney is part of the government.

Why is Mayor Byron Brown still talking with Bass Pro? We have been jerked around for over 2 years with nothing to show for it. It appears the Aud will be demolished, which isn’t the worst thing in the world. The 30 day deadline Brown gave Bass Pro has come and gone. He is either acting out of desperation or there is some kind of deal being cooked up that the public is not privy to. I would hope that any deal with Bass Pro, at this point, does not include any corporate welfare. I would simply point them to vacant land, put up a for sale sign, name a price and tell them take it or leave it.
Bass Pro and representatives from the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. are focusing on building a 150,000-square-foot store near the edge of the Inner Harbor instead of long-mothballed Memorial Auditorium.
Brown, last week, said he hopes to secure $21 million in state funds to demolish the Aud.
As for Bass Pro, Brown remains confident the project will come to fruition — a marked difference from mid-December when he gave the sporting goods giant until Jan. 16 to either accept plans for the store or walk away from the Inner Harbor concept.

I think it is significant that Labatt’s didn’t contact the Mayor of the Buffalo or Buffalo Niagara Enterprise. This shows that Buffalo has what Labatt U.S.A. was looking for, no corporate welfare necessary. Getting rid of waste in government, including Public Authorities and corporate welfare, would be a good first step to lower taxes and make Buffalo attractive for more businesses. Bribery isn’t necessary, but a good economic climate is.
(Buffalo, NY, January 25, 2007) - - Good news is brewing in downtown Buffalo.
According to the Buffalo News, Labatt USA will soon move its headquarters to the Key Center.
Twenty sales and marketing jobs will soon move from Connecticut to the Queen City.
Company leaders say Labatt’s large volume base in Western New York is the primary reason for the move.
Neither the mayor’s office nor the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise were contacted by Labatt management.
Granted, the amount of jobs is small, about 20, but the fact remains that they wanted to come here and did it on their own.
