Sabres season tickets are selling like hotcakes and may soon be limited.

Buoyed by brisk sales, Sabres officials now expect to cap their season-ticket total at 14,000 to 14,500 seats.

“We don’t want to get into a situation where there are no tickets available to the general public,” Daniel DiPofi, chief operating officer, said Tuesday. “I think it’s very important to give the casual-attending fan the opportunity to remain involved in the game.”

As of Friday, the Sabres had sold 12,498 full-season tickets, plus the equivalent of another 500 to 600 in minipacks. That puts the total at more than 13,000, a far cry from the 8,861 for last season.

The momentum of the Sabres’ long playoff run hasn’t slowed, even during the dog days of August when hockey makes little news.

“We’re selling between 85 and 100 a week, and this is a relatively slow time for sales,” DiPofi said. “The closer we get to the season, obviously that will pick up. If sales continue to go as well as they have, my guess is that we will have to cut it off.”  (Buffalo News)

This is a nice change of pace even though procuring single game tickets won’t be as easy.
