Buffalo River Tour

This year I was looking for something a bit different to do on July 4th. You can have barbecue and drink beer anytime in the summer. While I was at the RiverFest, I picked up a brochure from The Industrial Heritage Committee, Inc. The brochure described a Miss Buffalo tour of the historic Buffalo River grain elevator district. This sounded like the perfect thing to do, it was a way to admire the past on Independence Day. I pitched the idea to Caroline and Ed, and they agreed that it would be fun and great photo shoot opportunity.

The tour was amazing. I never realized how many grain elevators there are in Buffalo. The view from driving around is deceiving. The Buffalo River meanders around and exposes sights that can never be seen and fully appreciated from anywhere except the river. If you’re thinking, damn I missed this tour until the next Fourth of July, you are in luck! There are 3 more tours planned this summer, each lasting 2 hours. You can find all the details here.

After the tour we had some gigantic margaritas, but I’m not going to get into that now. That is Caroline’s part of the story to tell. She took the pics so she can tell the story . . .sorry Caroline, but it’s time to practice those writing skills. I’ll update with a link when she is done, but for now you can visit her blog and see some really great photos.

Below I have a short slide-show with some pics from the Miss Buffalo tour, hopefully by midway through the weekend I’ll be able to update with a link to some more photos.
