Mindless TV is what I put on when I want something playing in the background while I’m working on the computer or doing something else.
Tonight I decided to put FOX News on . . .I figured that is about as mindless as you can get. I wasn’t disappointed. The show on was War Stories with Oliver North. The show was about what I expected, a one hour long infomercial selling the War on Iraq. Poor Ollie was about as boring as boring can get. I guess he isn’t satisfied with his first 15 minutes of fame, not that this show is any better. It was a pathetic 60 minutes of television that didn’t belong on a news network, let alone a news network that claims to be “fair and balanced”. Perhaps he should enlist the support of Sally Struthers, the queen of infomercials, she could show us pictures of the poor Iraqi children whose lives we are improving supposedly improving.

Way to go George. The military even has a name for these suicides that is supposed to justify the deaths - acts of “asymmetrical warfare”. This places the blame on the prisoners, not the captors. Never mind the fact that they were held for over four years without any charges being placed against them. It is time to end the Bush spin machine. The man is barbaric. Ayatollah Bush is a threat to humanity.
Only 10 of 460 prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay have been formally charged with crimes. The Supreme Court will be ruling on this soon. Let’s hope that the collective wisdom of the nine justices is greater than the fascist mentality currently inhabiting the White House. After Bush was briefed on the suicides “He stressed the importance of treating the bodies in a humane and culturally sensitive manner,” according to Christie Parell, a White House spokeswoman. A little late, don’t you think?
Whether or not these men were terrorists is irrelevant. If they were they should have been charged and given a fair trial. If not, release them.
