I was listening to Kathy from Williamsville this afternoon. The topic of her show was “Armed Forces Day”. It sounded like her dialogue was written by Donald Rumsfeld. She was expounding on the “important” role our country has played for the last 150 years “spreading” freedom around the world. Bush might be spreading something, but it requires boots to wade through it. Then the most moronic thing I ever heard came out of her mouth - “people don’t fight wars, countries do”. WTF! Tell that to the more than 2000 dead Americans as a result of “spreading freedom” in Iraq.

Expand your hockey vocabulary
Each day, The News & Observer will explain a hockey term or expression.
Today: the crease
The goal crease is the blue area in front of the goal cage. Attacking players are not allowed to interfere with the goalie, but a bit of incidental contact is allowed.
Tuesday: slashing
Swinging a stick at an opponent, whether to dislodge the puck or to cause damage; this carries a two-minute penalty.
Monday: kick save
When a goalie stops a shot on goal by extending his leg or using his skate to stop the puck.
Sunday: saucer pass
A pass that flies just off the ice, over the stick of a defensive player. Gets its name from the way it spins off the stick like a Frisbee or flying saucer.
Saturday: the slot
Refers to the prime scoring area, between the face-off circles in the middle of the ice.
Friday: traffic
When several players are in one area of the ice, a player often must maneuver through them, as when a car on a crowded highway must maneuver through other vehicles. Also refers to offensive players standing in front of the net to block the goalie’s vision.
I’d comment some more but I’m to busy laughing . . .hahahahaha!
