Cell Phone Etiquette

Stuff like this really irritates me. I was shopping in the local supermarket tonight. I was in a bit of a hurry, needed about a half dozen items and proceeded to self-checkout with my stuff. Usually I am annoyed by people who look at the machine like it was just dropped in place by a spaceship and they have no idea how to operate it. Personally, I think there should be a timer tied to a minimum scan rate. If people can’t scan their items at a decent rate, their bonus cards should only work at a checkout that is manned.

Back to the story. Tonight we (me and the other people waiting) were treated to some bimbo who apparently had her right hand and right ear super-glued to her cell phone. It was obvious that her phone call was a priority by the extreme amount of time she took to scan and pay for her purchases. At the least, one of the duties of the person in charge of the checkouts should speed people up that are wasting time.
