I was watching MSNBC news today and they ran this teaser - “Coping with Alligator Anxiety”. WTF is that? Is this some newly diagnosed disorder? Or, is it sensationalism at its best?
Alligators suspected in two more Florida deaths
SALT SPRINGS, Fla. - Florida had seen just 17 confirmed fatal alligator attacks in the previous 58 years. In less a week, there appears to have been three.
The bodies of two women were found Sunday some 130 miles apart.
Annemarie Campbell, 23, of Paris, Tenn., was attacked while snorkeling in a secluded recreation area near Lake George, said state wildlife spokeswoman Kat Kelley. The lake is about 50 miles southeast of Gainesville.
The actual news story was dripping with comedy. One segment gave advice on how to avoid an alligator attack and included the following tidbit - “Never feed an alligator, no matter how cute they may look”.

Flutie, 43, ends colorful football career - NFL - MSNBC.com
Doug Flutie was a fighter and found his way into the hearts of Buffalo Bills fans. He was a ray of light when things looked bleak. Thank you, Doug, for some inspired football.
He had the knack for making special things happen at the most improbable times. Last season he completed the NFL’s first drop kick for an extra point since 1941.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Doug Flutie retired Monday, ending a 21-year career in which the undersized Heisman Trophy winner threw one of college football’s most famous passes and went on to play a dozen seasons in the NFL.
The decision by the 43-year-old Flutie was announced by the New England Patriots, for whom he played five games last season.
Flutie spent 12 seasons in the NFL and also played in the USFL and the Canadian Football League. He won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award six times and the league’s Grey Cup championship three times.

Of course the people don’t want war. But after all, it’s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.

If that ain’t the truth! History repeats itself once again.
John Stossel recently did a special called Stupid in America. It is lengthy but worth watching.
