Brown’s 1st budget totals $412M - Business First of Buffalo:
New to the general funding ledger is $2 million in additional aid to Buffalo’s public schools, $1.3 million for additional demolitions of abandoned houses and a $250,000 middle-income housing package aimed at encouraging more city firefighters, police and teachers to move back into Buffalo.
Brown sponsored a similar bill while in the State Senate to give tax incentives to Police and Firefighters living in the City. That bill was sent to “death by committee”. Now Byron, in a move to reward his followers, has devised another reward scenario. Buffalo teachers ranked number 2 on the top 10 salary list for 2003-04 at $54,039/annually. The Buffalo Police rank 19th in the Country.
Byron, you need to lower taxes which will benefit everyone - not just hand out money to the relatively overpaid union voters who support you!
The median income for a household in the city is $24,536, and the median income for a family is $30,614. Males have a median income of $30,938 versus $23,982 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,991. 26.6% of the population and 23.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 38.4% of those under the age of 18 and 14.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line. (2000 census data)

He also indicated that Federal Labor Law protects every employee’s right to engage in concerted activities for “mutual aid and protection,” including calling for change in existing laws to improve working conditions. The courts have held that participation by employees in demonstrations and rallies like those planned for May 1 are protected activities under that provision.
“Employers need to carefully consider what reasonable limitations on their employees’ participation are truly necessary to the functioning of their businesses. Employers and employees are urged to cooperate to avoid violations of law.”
Spitzer stated.
Spitzer is not going to be happy until he runs every business out of NYS. We need to organize a rally against Spitzer under the guise of “mutual aid and protection”. All businesses should shut down to participate. While all the businesses are closed people will be able to experience Eliot’s vision - no more businesses.
