Flying High Over Downtown Buffalo

Buffalo Peregrine Falcons | WebCam 2006
This is an interesting site I discovered last year. 2 peregrine falcons nest high up in the Statler Towers. There is a webcam that allows you to follow the progress of the 2 eggs in the nest. The 1st egg was laid on April 9, the 2nd one earlier today and a 3rd egg is due anytime.

This beautiful acrobat of the sky saw a population decline in the 1960’s and 70’s due in part to pesticides. Listed in much of the U.S. as an endangered species, the peregrine has been making a comeback in Western New York, in other urban areas across the country and in much of its historic habitat.
High atop the Statler Towers in Buffalo, NY is the only known nesting pair within the city limits of Buffalo. While visiting our fine city, be sure to look high in the sky for the aerodynamic display as they let everyone know who owns the skyline.

Last year I watched the progress of the baby falcons. Children will love this site.

Colorful Food

Ali’s Blog has a picture of some very colorful food. Besides making me hungry, it reminded me of a colorful dish I made a while back. It is a really simple recipe from Mr. Food . . .but . . .OOOOOOOOOh, It’s so good! This is what it looks like -

In case you’re getting hungry now, here’s the recipe:

  • 1 package 24oz. frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 jar 12 oz. roasted red peppers, drained
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese (don’t be lazy, but the good stuff and grate it yourself!)
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 2 cloves garlic

1. Prepare ravioli according to package directions and drain.
2. In a food processor or blender, process the peppers, cheese, half-and-half, and garlic until smooth.
3. Add the red pepper sauce to the ravioli, toss gently until well coated and serve immediately.

You’re on your own for a salad, but field greens with chick peas and a homemade balsamic vinaigrette is a nice match. Enjoy!
