Rant for Today

This afternoon, needing some cold, hard cash, I drove to the nearest Citizen’s Bank ATM. I am a fairly recent convert to Citizens Bank, having used M & T most of my life. I pulled up to the drive-thru ATM and inserted my card, so far everything is spiffy. I am now expecting to input my PIN, however I am at Citizens Bank and am forced to answer an asinine question first - “Would you like to continute in English?” Quickly I look around to confirm that I am still in Buffalo, New York. Of course I would like to continure in English! The last I had heard, English was and is the official language. I find the question not only stupid but wrong. It is also a waste of time and contributes to longer ATM lines. At the very least, the machine could say something similar to “please enter your PIN and press here OR press 1 for another language. Don’t ask me if i want to use English in my English speaking country.
